Their hearts beating, pulse racing, plams sweating.

The clash of steel on stell shatters silence.

Quickly, a parry, block, sidestep, they ring

A barbaric cry to the heavens, with

The furies of a thousand samurai;

Hellfires blazing with each deafened slash

While ancestors watch over their sons high,

The warriors of honor, actions rash.

In bushido they fight, for a future

Afterlife of which honor envelops,

But in seppuku they fall, victims to

A dishonor, cured only by their death.

What honor is there to gain while slaying

Fellow kin?  A path of death beginning.

Beautifully written and quite powerful. The imagery is stunning and evocative. One minor correction...I think it is spelled seppuku.

Not many people even know what Bushido means, how you decipher it was truly stunning.
Two big thumbs up...XD
I've favorited this long ago and never posted anything about it. so here goes.

I love it, the visual depiction that Irish-Wasabi mentioned holds true for me as well, and I like how you put it all together. great job.

To FancyDancer

Yes and no, FancyDancer. Bushido had seven Virtues which anyone can read. I like to believe that how a Samurai asserted Bushido in his life is how he was defined. Anyone can know the path, but to walk it and carry yourself in every manner of the word, I think that was the greatest feat a Samurai could achieve.
